SUMMER VACATION by Spanky de Bautumn

The summer I had turned fourteen, Gina had to go to summer school in
order to graduate the following year. Their family vacation back to
Tennessee for her grandparents 50th anniversary fell right in the middle
of her school session, so it was decided she would stay with us, at least
come for dinner and to report that she had not been abducted or raped and
everything was all right once in a while.

I loved hanging out with Gina, we always had fun. I was not foolish
enough to think that anything more than friendship would ever develop
between us. Once she became a junior, our time together had dwindled to
maybe a couple of hours during the joint family B-B-Q every month, if she
didn't have a date.

When I found out she would be spending time at our house, I was on cloud
nine. I cleared what little of a calendar I had and started creating
fantasy scenarios that always ended with her and I in bed together. I
knew my chances of winning the lottery were better than my odds of
sleeping with her, but what the heck, isn't that what fantasies were all
about.

Finally the big day came. Her parents and brothers left Sunday morning
and that afternoon she came over a couple of hours before dinner to talk
with my parents about how much freedom she was to be allowed. My folks
were not naïve, they were actually very cool. They allowed us enough
freedom to hang ourselves and then pull back the rains so we knew what we
were missing. They told her that if she followed their simple rules, she
or her parents wouldn't hear a word from them.

Since it was Sunday, my sister was at church most of the day and not at
hand to put in her buttoned up opinion regarding the matter. I'm not sure
if the outcome would have been different but I was glad she wasn't there
anyway.

All the bedrooms were occupied in our house, so rather than have her move
all her stuff to our den and become one more body fighting to get into
the bathroom every day, she could stay at her place under two conditions.
