Gali's Surprise Package

Suzanne in international finance and John in teaching. When she'd gotten a job offer in LA, he agreed to move to further her career. She'd demanded it. The only jobs available were in the inner city public schools and he'd had to take one. He rode into the city from the suburbs every day with his wife. He was glad he didn't have to take a bus.Over the next two years he become accustomed to LA.

He and his wife however seemed to be drifting apart. They hardly talked, and when he tried to sort things out, she told him to quit whining.This wasn't the way he'd thought things would go. Suzanne had started to travel and that was straining things even further. The last period bell rang and John sighed. It was Thursday and the school dance was tomorrow night, and they'd roped him into the committee. He not only had to be at the dance tomorrow night he had to go to this last committee meeting tonight. To make matters worse, Suzanne told him Tuesday she had to go on a trip to Europe for a deal her company was working on, and she'd be leaving Friday afternoon for a week, so she wouldn't be joining him. He wondered down the hall to the gym and the committee meeting.

When he arrived, Bill Wright the vice principal was giving last minute instructions. John noticed Gali at the far side. Their eyes met and she smiled.She had volunteered, and had worked hard on the dance. Bill discussed cleaning up, but John's mind drifted. Gali made him feel funny things. Now Bill said, it's time to arrange rides for our volunteers who need them. Don't want them walking the streets that late at night. Who needs rides, Bill asked. Several of the girls raised their hands and were quickly paired up.Gali raised her hand. I need a ride to my aunts' in Beverly Hills if I can find one she purred. No body volunteered. Then Bill said, John, don't you live in Beverly Hills? What, John said as he snapped out of his trance? Don't you live in Beverly Hills? he said.

Yes I do John responded. Can you give a student a ride there after the dance? Sure he stuttered. Good. Gali, John will give you a ride to your aunts'. John was dumb struck. He looked at Gali who smiled. My god he thought as he left. John had drove his wife to work with her luggage, then gone on to school. He brought a change for the dance so he wouldn't have to go all the way home before. As he entered class, he saw Gali.
